One size doesn't fit in all in life or in professional development. Professional development requires a collegial component wherein we share, collaborate and grow together in an ongoing basis for the good of the profession. Put these two truisms together and you have the rationale for the CRSTE CyberConference 2010 (C3)!
CRSTE creates synergy across the national capital region for advocacy, infrastructure, policy, practice, professional development and strategies that promote the infusion of instructional technology across the curriculum in public and private PreK-12 education and higher education. C3 is our first foray into providing free, online PD for educators. Hosted on the Elluminate platform, C3 is two weeks of 50+ presentations by ed tech leaders and practitioners from around the country and the world, including Harry Tetteh from Ghana, Ian Jukes from British Columbia, Gail Lovely from Texas, Doug Johnson from Minnesota, Thomas Armstrong from California, Kathy Schrock from Cape Cod, and Chris O'Neal from right here in Virginia.
Strands for C3 include 21st century skills, emerging technologies, managing technology, instructional innovation, leadership and vision, transforming education and Web 2.0 instructional applications, covering everything from iTunes U and the Berkshire Laptop Initiative to student information literacy and principal technology leadership. No travel costs, no registration fees, no holing up in hotel rooms and lugging around bags full of handouts and materials. Put on your favorite slippers, grab a cold drink, set up in your favorite easy chair and login for the sessions that meet your interests and needs.
